"A piece of street on your skin."
Die Presse

1000 white T-shirts are lying on the street. Performers and passers-by alike put on shoes provided for the purpose and step into fluorescent pink paint before walking over the T-shirts. In doing so, they leave their marks on the clothes, which are subsequently hung on lighting wires between the houses for drying. Taken down and put on, what were once footsteps can now be perceived on the body; they are dispersed in all directions by the wearers of the T-shirts.

Street wear materializes the transient exposure of the sole to the asphalt - a meeting of streets, steps, clothing, dirt and colour.

shoe diploma 2002

The pages of the diploma book are considered to be a piece of ground. The work was printed between 14:30 and 18:00 on 3rd of May 2002 on the pavement in front of the Künstlerhaus Vienna. In this period of time 2000 people stepped on the diploma. Among them visitors of the museum, moviegoers, pupils, bikers, elderly people, policemen, musicians and other people passing by.

The fluorescent pink prints were made by fifteen colleagues and friends. Humanic provided the actors with sufficient pairs of shoes. After picking up the printed sheets sized 70x100cm weighting 250g little stones, cigarette stubs and twigs had to be removed from the colour because of the cutting process to DIN A3.
